About a month ago my daughter, Layla, asked me if she could get her hair cut. I didn’t think much of it, life got busy, I forgot. She reminded me a week or so later about making an appt. Yeah yeah yeah. Again, life. Busy. Another week went by and she was like, “MOM! Seriously! I want to get my hair cut so I can donate it!!” Wait. Say what? It was a really crazy mix of pride and pain that stopped me in my tracks. I realized instantly that she meant a legit hair cut. Not a trim here. We’re talking 8-10 inches. No! not my little girl! Then the pride. Proud mommy for sure. My little Layla Jane wants to chop her hair off so she can give it away. I mean wow. So, I made the phone call, booked the appt, showed up and watched in complete awe of this little girl doing a big thing to spread her kind ripple into the world. My sweet Layla.
The most special moment of the night was when I received a text message from a family member who wrote, “Dear Layla, I just wanted to send big hugs and kisses to you for donating your hair today!! Little girls like you let little girls like mine feel beautiful!! Thank you Miss Layla!”
